Type 1 or type 2

My question is does someone who is diagnosed with diabeties in their thirty's necessarly have to be type 2 ? How common is it that your type 1 when told your type two? The first year metforim helped my numbers and now I am on metformin 2X500mg twice a day and then added two 5mg twice a day of PMS-glyburide and now two weeks ago added APO-pioglitazone 45mg once a day. I watch what I eat cook from diabetic cook books try to get exercise which can be very painful due to fibromyalgia, but my numbers arent dropping. I'm mostly all the time running in the mid 20's.

Good! You will be amazed how much better you will feel. I strongly encourage you to get the book Using Insulin by John Walsh.

Thanks thought you might like to know that the doctor agreed that we have tried everything so I am started on a low dose of Humulin insulin 10 cc for three days up it 2cc(every third day) until next week when I go back to the doc. She has put a referal into a Endo. they called me right back and I go in June it is abit away but at least the insulin might help.

What you need to look out for is something called DKA which occurs with numbers consistently as high as yours and is the result of ketones in the urine. It can be very dangerous. If you start vomiting that is when it is a medical emergency. But in general, yes, super high numbers like that will make you feel awful. Drink lots of water in the meantime, but you need to get those numbers down ASAP. Bottom line is you need to be started on insulin. Let me know how it goes.

THE MID 20s??? As in U.S. 360? That is MUCH too high, dangerously high. You need to talk to your doctor right away, and if you start to feel sick like you have the flu, you need to go to the ER. You are asking a very good question. You might indeed be something called LADA/1.5 which is slow onset Type 1. I was misdiagnosed as Type 2 myself and did fine on oral meds for a little over a year when my numbers started to climb. The test to determine type is the GAD antibody test, (Type 1 is antibody positive, Type 2 is not) very few regular doctors know about it, you probably need to see an endocrinologist. Also the c-peptide test will help in this diagnosis by showing how much insulin your body is making.
