Good! You will be amazed how much better you will feel. I strongly encourage you to get the book Using Insulin by John Walsh.
Thanks thought you might like to know that the doctor agreed that we have tried everything so I am started on a low dose of Humulin insulin 10 cc for three days up it 2cc(every third day) until next week when I go back to the doc. She has put a referal into a Endo. they called me right back and I go in June it is abit away but at least the insulin might help.
Thanks Robynmcc
What you need to look out for is something called DKA which occurs with numbers consistently as high as yours and is the result of ketones in the urine. It can be very dangerous. If you start vomiting that is when it is a medical emergency. But in general, yes, super high numbers like that will make you feel awful. Drink lots of water in the meantime, but you need to get those numbers down ASAP. Bottom line is you need to be started on insulin. Let me know how it goes.
Thank u i am going to the Dr's today i am in Canada so our numbers are different but yeah mid 20's is high I am told. I have been feeling like crap flu on and off now since jan it has been bad most days feel like I been beaten. I will ask the dr about these test.
Thanks Robyn
THE MID 20s??? As in U.S. 360? That is MUCH too high, dangerously high. You need to talk to your doctor right away, and if you start to feel sick like you have the flu, you need to go to the ER. You are asking a very good question. You might indeed be something called LADA/1.5 which is slow onset Type 1. I was misdiagnosed as Type 2 myself and did fine on oral meds for a little over a year when my numbers started to climb. The test to determine type is the GAD antibody test, (Type 1 is antibody positive, Type 2 is not) very few regular doctors know about it, you probably need to see an endocrinologist. Also the c-peptide test will help in this diagnosis by showing how much insulin your body is making.
