The only way to do this is to carefully match the insulin to your food (not eat to make sure you don't go low). A basal/ bolus regime is much better for this than mixed insulin. You will also need to combine it with low carb eating.
Please let us know your hba1c and typical blood sugar numbers.
fergot to mention eat less carbs need less iinsulin use less insulin have less BG swings.
remember the insulin must match the carbs so chainging one will mean you need to chaing the other.
get the book "using insulin" by john walsh
first off what are your BG numbers?
I bet not even or consistent. using a mixed insulin ( each injection contains long acting insulin and 50% short acting insulin) will very rarely give a person good control of there BG.. to control BG you need to on a Bolus/Basal insulin regime. count carbs and use exactly the right amount of fast insulin for those carbs. its called I/C ratio insulin/carb. you also need to be on a basal insulin regime with Lantus or Levamere NPH will sort of work though many people have a hard time controlling the peek effectiveness of NPH.
you will NOT ket rid of your foot pain untill you get your BG under control. High BG causes neropathy not diabetes.
controled BG is BG under 140 at all times. I try for that dont always make it. Better control will reduce neropathy.
