They say you should eat small meals every 3 hours or so, and not eating is not good for you either. Watch your carbs.
Take your pick then Google their practice/history. http://tinyurl.com/48tkyz
You need to eat with in one to two hours after waking....my sugar will actually go up if I don't eat. My liver starts to make sugar and since I don't produce enough insulin and can't adequately use the insulin I produce it will just keep rising! Strangely enough, as soon as I eat - the levels will stabilize. If you are waking up at 3am with a 125 (although that is a good number - your liver might be confused and then start pumping out extra sugar which is causing you the higher fastings. I have this problem too and still can't really find a "cure" for it. Docs don't even know what to do...it isn't an exact science yet.
If you can, try eating something at 3am - not much - 15 grams of carbs with protein to balance it out. Maybe have a 4 oz glass of milk. Just an idea.
Hope all goes well....
That was very interesting and informative. Thanks, I never thought about the sugar going up in the morning being turned around bt actually eating. Bang! I could have had a v8!
