Hi,
this is called the 'dawn phenomenon'.
You need to work with your doc to get your levels better regulated. You may need additional meds / adjustment in diet. Your 130 and 125 (2 hours after eating) are also still on the high side (though not terribly so).
A late night snack (with some complex carbs and protein) may actually help bring your morning numbers down.
Target HA1C should actually be about 4.8 if you have excellent control, though anything over about 6.1 is considered diabetic.
Look up diabetes type 1.5. This type is also associated with the 'dawn phenomenon'.
Hope this helps.
Actually, that is not the case, Sally. DP is a form of insulin resistance which is much more a factor for Type 2 than Type 1 or 1.5.
Hi,
Zoela thanks for the correction. Will read up and get my facts straighter.
Actually, Sally, I looked it up after I posted and found that both types can experience DP so we both learned something! I'm LADA and don't have it at all and it's all too easy to base things on your own experience. (Plus since people don't know that much about LADA(1.5) they do tend to assign all unfamiliar symptoms to us!)
