non diabetic but high blood sugar after acute Gastroenteritis and IV antibiotic

dear doctor
i suffered a acute gastroenteritis after eating unhealthy food. Around 9 to 10 times vomitting coupled with many times loose stools like water. When the situation still not getting good i was admitted to one hospital by my friends. I was not able to talk and even walk due to so many loose stools and vomitting. The doctor has treated me with IV antibiotic first. Then they took blood sample and given me IV fluids to rehydrate. Next day i received my blood report and the things like LFT, Cholesterol level, KFT and virological test all came back with normal results. But i am stunned to see my blood fasting glucose level at 200mg/dl in the report. They took another blood sample before and after meal and that time it came back as 90mg/dl fasting and 120mg/dl after meal which used to my regular level. I am non diabetic and quite a concious on health. The doctor is also clueless and told me it might be due to severe dehydration and infection that has risen my blood sugar level. So, dear dctor, was it indeed due to severe dehydration and gastroenteritis infection that has produced such abnormal blood sugar level or was it due to wrong test method? i have little doubt on the quality of that hospital becos it is run by christain society and it touched my heart becos of quality service and fantastic hospitality i have received there. I am 100 percent non diabetic and please give me a light on what caused such abnormal level that very sick day?
        thank you.

First, although one or two may stop by on occasion there are no doctors on this patient-to-patient forum. And, yes, your hospital doctor is correct both an infection and/or dehydration will elevate blood sugar levels.
