Hi,
Here is my untrained opinion:
Cymbalta or Lyrica are only pain relievers, they could help you in a short term only
I was having Diabetes  neuropathy pains just like any long term T2 would suffer with this kind of nerve pains. How I stopped this pain: I kept my blood sugar reading less than 140 AT ALL TIMES  by eating only low carb foods.
and my hbA1c less than 5.6%. After , 3 weeks, the pains stopped.
To study how to combat this neuropathy pains, I suggest that you google: Diabetes nerve pains forum.
Good luck

Ask your local Pharmacist. As far as I know it comes only as delayed-release [long-acting], but hey, I'm no pharmacist either.
