Vinegar lowers glucose?

Dr. Ramsetty,

Do you have any views as to safety and efficacy (if any) of consuming a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar as a means to slightly reduce glucose levels?  I have discovered this "remedy" through some web searches, but am a bit skeptical, since there seem to be a lot of less than fully substantiated nutritional remedies that can be found on the internet.

Hi,
I actually have seen some published studies in a respected diabetes journal regarding the use of vinegar for improving glucose levels. It has not been WIDELY studied but there is some preliminary data to suggest that it may help improve glucose metabolism. Right now I do not know of any worrisome side effects/ downsides if vinegar is taken in small amounts.
Hope this helps, take care.
