Upper Left Pain under my ribs

Hello,
I have been suffering this pain under my ribs on the left side.I have this pain over a year already and it seems to be worsen up from day to day.I noticed it has changed from front to the back of my ribs and even around on the other side around my liver.I had my gallbadder removed many years ago not sure if this can cause such pain.I went to the doctor he gave some pills told me was spams and nothing to worry about.I went back again to my doctor and he gave some other pills for the stomach but couldn't take them gave a reaction. He also suggested it might be kidney stones but overall this is really starting to scare me.I sleep or lie down the pain is like all over the from front to sides around my rib cage.I am 36 Female in good shape.I taken blood test nothing comes up but normal or pecfect blood.I did suffer kidney problem many years ago when I was young. My stool is normal no blood or urine is normal color or no smell. Please give me some advice what to do before it get really nasty.
Thanks..

have been in hospital 2x in one month time with pain either on upper left side under ribs or on right side.  last of february, they put me in icu it hurt so bad, they though i had a bloot clot in lungs, turned out not to be.  spent several days in hospital being treated for a lung infection, although i never had a cough or trouble breathing!  off work for 3 weeks trying to recover, went back to work due to money reasons although not happy about info i got about what was wrong.  went back to hospital sunday and got home yesterday.  did seveal tests, most came back negative, including the egd (tube down the throat) xrays normal blood normal, they did do a nuclear stomach emptying test that was abnormal.  doctor is too professional and has no bedside manners, does not answer questions?  i now had had "five new" medicines added on to take daily,  each of them say "may cause dizziness or drowsiness".  i do not know how i am to go back to work.  no one has explained if this is going to go away when medicine is gone or is it a problem for life.does anyone know what an abnormal stomach emptying test means?  thanks for sharing.  i too fell as if my doctors think i am making up all this pain.  i do not want to wish this upon anyone, but sometimes i wish they knew first hand what it felt like-----

I have had the same problem for close to 6 months now. It started as pain right by my lower rib cage on the left. I was on Celebrex which helped the pain, but I think it messed up my stomach at the same time.  After I went back with stomach problems, possibly from the Celebrex I was put on Prevacid.  That didn't help at all, it made me fell sick to my stomach. I went to a GI doctor that thinks I have a torn stomach muscle although if it is a torn stomach muscle why does the pain radiate to my back. I stopped taking all the medication that I was on and my stomach feels almost back to normal after 8 weeks. There are days that I don't have any pain at all, but I don't know if there is anything that really triggers it. Recenlty I get a shooting pain, not often, but is this something related or is whatever i have getting worse?  I am 28 and have no prior health problems, no surgeries.I am really frustrated with the pain, but its somehow comforting to know I am not the only one who has experienced this.

I have posted elsewhere about chronic intestinal problems.  In addition, for some time now, I have experienced pain and discomfort on the left side--just under the rib cage.  It is particularly noticeable when I bend over (e.g., to tie a shoe).  The sensation is as though the bottom rib "buckles," but it could also be described as the feeling that there is "something there" (which, of course, prompts vivid imaginings of large, parasitic masses....)  Is this at all consistent with what others describe in this thread?  How long do I have, doc?

Have any of you been checked for acute or chronic pancreatitis?  My husband has acute and the pain you are experiencing sounds just like his.  Especially constipation and the location of the pain.  It is a very serious disease.

Hello People,
Thanks for responds from all of you.It makes me feel better to know that many people have this problem. I have been reading on this page site and many problems do come from the gallbladder being removed.I did many years ago and it was a big cut on my stomach.I do suffer from a senstive stomach sometimes but not always..I just getting over the stomach flu again for the 2 time this year.I do work in a nursing home so pick all kinds of bugs and virus.Guess need to rest up on the weekend and do that test for the doctor but only in March.Well hope you all have a nice one and we will talk soon..Take care.. Well, I have the same symptoms and then some. The only difference is that I haven't had my Gallbladder removed. I HAVE had every other test in the Medical field possible and still no answers. I've had a history of Constipation most of my life but never pain and weird sensations like this ever. I'm sure you all know the frustration that can come from not knowing whats wrong. I did have an endoscopy that showed I had a large hiatal hernia and two very small ulcers, but to tell you the truth I think the ulcers have come from my dealings with the doctors that try to prescribe so much anti-depressant medicine because they just can't figure out what is wrong. I have never valued my health so much as I do right now. I guess we take good health for granted but need to remember that its the grace of God that keeps us. I share your pain and suffering and I will pray that whatever is wrong will be revealed and that it will be resolved. Every day I wake up I thank God and remember that by His stripes we are healed and I continue to try and get some answers that will help correct these awful symptoms. I know that I don't have great eating habits and that I need to change those too, I'm on the path to doing that right now. I hope that we can all write back soon and give a good report of the solution to these illnesses. I really appreciate being able to write to someone that knows exactly what I am going through.
God Bless

Please let me know if they find anything. I've had the same problem for years.  At times the pain is excruciating.  I've also been diagnosed with a "minor" hiatal hernia...which the doc says doesn't cause pain.  sure it doesn't...

Hi Susu,
Thanks for telling about the pain you also have under your ribs.
I don't why this keeps bothering me the way it does it's really annoying.I am going to the doctor on Friday so we'll see what he says about my stomach.Maybe it does have something to do with the gallbladder not being there.Well hope to know more soon..
Not wanting to so many test like what you did for my work will have a **** fit..Take care..Vera.

I have the same pain.It starts right there under my ribs and goes through to my back.It happens almost every day.I also had my gallbladder removed. You think there is some connection with the gallbladder removal and the pain?Sometimes I wonder.I have seen numerous specialists. They too just gave me spasm meds, medication for pain...the list goes on.I have all kinds of testing...no diagnoses.Infact I have had all the tests that can be done except a colonoscopy, but the doc said there is no reason to have that done..anyway it seems as if we are in the same predicament.I hope it helps you in knowing you are not alone.
