queer feeling in stomach

Maybe I can figure it all out if you can you tell me what causes this: When I eat and then immediately go to sleep I will wake up EVERY time with this strange feeling in my gut and it will feel like I need to eat something. What happens that sleep does something? It is only when I sleep after eating that this happens.

Hi,
I have alot of problems and am going to the gastroenterologist in August. Anyone who could give me help on what the heck is going on would be appreciated. I have had pain in my left side under my ribs wrapping around to my back for going on 1 and a half years. Present is also diareah and constipation. My diareah is strange sometimes quite dark and sometimes a whiteish or beige color it sometimes floats and is all broken up. I have been on dicetel which does nothing. I have sollen lymph glands in my neck and under arms little red dots all over my body.(broken blood vessels)I sweat profusely sometimes and get chills also. Cannot sleep at night pain in side gets worse. I now have developed problems eating. After I swallow about six seconds later have unbearable pain in bottom of throat. It feels like my throat is too small to push the food in my stomach. This started a couple of weeks ago and now affects me almost every time I eat sometimes even when I drink water. I have not talked about this latest swallowing problem too my doc because I am tired of going to my family doctor again and again. I had pain in my right side two years ago. Nothing on ultrasound no fever no bad bloodwork .They admitted me in the hospital and took out my appendix and found a carcinoid tumor in it. I have had blood work about three months ago and an xray and cat scan and ultrasound. Nothing showed up. It is not normal to be tired all the time. I am in pain in my side all the time. I have Hashimotos disease and take synthroid for over a year. Any one have any ideas I feel like I am crazy or something
Anyone who can help let me know, oh I had a hysterectomy Full three years ago and am 37 years old.Hysterectomy because of endometriosis and all the women have a bad ovarian cancer in my family so they recommend I remove everything.(There is an actual hormone for the type of ovarian cancer my family  has that can detect whether you will get it or not.) So we did.

I am 43 years old but now something intersting about what you said. I do have a thyroid nodule could this cause that Auto Immune Thyroid disease? I had told my thyroid doctor that I feel real fuzzy headed alot and I remember him saying that I was probably low on B12 but we never checked for it. This is all starting to make allittle sense now. I am so thankful for all your comments. Questions and answers are leading to alot!!

cranberry juice which you can get in supermarket will raise your stomach acid level,it also remove the e coli bacteria attached to tissue cells, thats what i am told.
i keep some fruit flavor popsicles in the fridge, the grape flavor ones seem to do better than the other flavors.

Hypochlorhydria/  Achlorhydria   ( too little acid ) is associated with age, chronic h pylori infection ,auto immune thyroid disease, , atrophic gastritis---any condition that leads to destruction of parietal cells  ( these cells make the  acid)
15 percent of people over 65 who have chronic h pylori develop it

Yes,  this can cause GI symptoms , there are tests for it. Not an Apple Cider Vinegar test. It is most common in those over 60.

Your endoscopy was totally clean.  Are your B12 levels ok? They  probably  wouldn't be if you had this.    Are you over 60? Acid production decreases anyway as people age along with most everything else.

The supplementations are  hydrochloric acid supplements. ---- watch what you read on the web. People make millions from vunerable people trying to get better. By twisting the truth . Be it ever so slightly.

I just came back from visiting my sister who is an alcoholic.  She has a very distended stomach-exactly like she is pregnant. It is not high now low, just like a pregnant huge football up front.  Does anyone know what this is?  It is hard to the touch and the skin is tight over it.  Does anyone know what this is?  Please advise if you do.  Thanks.  healthfocus

Okay could someone tell me what is a name of a drug that is used when you do not have enough acid? And could not having enough Acid cause these symptoms?  I took an Apple Cider test yesterday and it says that if by taking 1 tbls of Apple Cider Vinegar your symptoms get worse then you probably have to much acid and if your symptoms subside then you probably do not have enough acid. Well I took this test and did it with every meal yesterday and I still feel alittle bit the same but not near as bad as I did before. I want to call the doc and ask her about this but I also am curious about drugs prescribed before getting them so can anyone tell me what medicines there are for this?

Hi Coleena  Many people with GERD have never had heartburn in their lives, there are many different symptoms you can have with GERD other than heartburn , --- ie  sore throat, sore stomach,  , nausea , etc.

Also there are many perfectly healthy people with hiatal hernias unaware they even have a hernia.  Not all hiatal hernias are symptomatic.

Let me ask a question tho" Doesn't GERD or HIATAL HERNIA give heartburn? My husband had a Hialal Hernia years ago and he always had heartburn terribly. I have no acid reflux or anything like that.

You are describing a dyspepsia symptom, there are various causes outlined earlier.   Lying down with a full stomach exacerbates digestive problems. You should not lie down for two to three hours after eating.

Typically GERD-like symptoms are exacerbated if you lie down or sleep immediately after eating.  You may want to consider an upper GI series to ensure there is no hiatal-hernia which may exacerbate the symptoms.  I would not advise eating before sleeping if this is the case.

If there is evidence of a hiatal hernia or GERD, you may want to consider a PPI (proton-pump inhibitor) for treatment.  If everything is negative, an upper endoscopy can be considered for a more thorough evaluation.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
