Gall Bladder Symptoms w/o Stones ?

I seem to have these recurring gall bladder symptoms usually an hour after I eat - indigestion, burning in abdomen, and a pain right beneath the right shoulder blade. On some occasions, but not all, I feel a dull pain in the direct location of the gall bladder.

I had an ultrasound done of the gall bladder and it showed no stones. Prilosec and Zantac seem to relieve these symptoms, sometimes in short order. Possible to have a gall bladder disorder w/o stones ?

If so, what further tests should I request ?

Thanks ..

Yes, it is possible to have gallbladder symptoms without stones.

As you mentioned, a low gallbladder ejection fraction can be responsible for your symptoms.  Small studies suggest removing the gallbladder may help.

You may also want to investigate the biliary tree.  An MRCP can be done to exclude stones there.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

I also had numerous ultrasounds and showed no abnormality with my gallbladder. I recently had a HIDA scan performed to show the funtion of the gallbladder and the results came back confirming i have Gallbladder dyskinesia. What that means is that the gallbladder ejection rate is very low 11%. When it should be in the vacinity of 35% or higher.

So i would def recommend you ask for this test and be assured.

i am scheduled for gallbladder removal on Feb 19th but will go to the gastro specialist for a second opinion. i am not sure if it is possible for the ejection rate to improve but will find out tomorrow.
