gall stone and polyp

it has been over a year since my pain started, finally, after three trips to the ER, an ultrasound found gall stones and a polyp.  i am waiting to take a CAT scan.  i am scared because the last time i had pain, i was in bed for a week because the pain would not go away.  the only medication that i took was acetaminophen for the pain, but that did not really work.  that week i exerince:  abd. pain from one to ten it was a eight, pain when i used the restroom number one and two, i saw blood come out when i did number two, and saw only once blood when i did number one, i had fevers, i had high blood pressure, and  i had nausea.  some of the symptoms come back ones awhile.  the reason i am scared is because the doctor that i saw did not tell me more, she was very busy because there were many people waiting.  the hospital is King/drew medical center in Los Angeles.  my question is: what are the chances of this polyp being benign or malignant?  my age is 20 yrs.  thank you so much

First, do not be negative.  Until you have test result, don't make assumptions.  The polyp is a hereditary issue.  In young people, the disease advances more reapidly then in older people.  however, make sure you have colonoscopy done ASAP and they will take a biopsy.  Don't let anyone say that there is always time for this or that, insist, and push them to have it done. My father was just diagnosed with colon caner due to a polyp and I was told to make sure and have a colonoscopy done. I am only 25.  Ask your family members if there are other cases of polypis in the family. HOpe it all goes well.

Hi,
If you are talking about gallbladder polyps, most polyps are not cancerous.  I had 1 polyp, a few months later it turned into 2, then several and then began to grow. The doctors do not treat this as a reason for removing the gallbladder.  If they grow to 8-10mm, they will remove the gallbladder. Eventually, I had the gallbladder removed(after 1.5yrs).  The pathology report stated that I had a few small bumps, that were not even polyps after all. So do not panic, especially at your age, polyps are more common than you think.  Insist on a Hida scan because it does sound like you are having some dysfunction of your gallbladder. It is a painless procedure and will reveal alot.
The blood in your urine could be a bladder infection especially if you had a fever.  It's funny because I had that too just prior to getting diagnosed. A simple urine test would identify that.
Blood in the stool is usually hemmorhoids or anal fissures.  If it was isolated to one or 2 times, I wouldn't worry.  Otherwise see a doctor and have him examine you.  It's quick and not as bad as people might think. Let us know how you are doing...
