My understanding of liver hemangioma (I have one too!) is that they are harmless and should not cause pain. They do need to avoid them...I have an autoimmune liver disease that requires occasional liver biopsy, so they have to make sure to stay away from the hemangioma...not really a big deal, though.
I would follow up on any pain with your doc...it may not be anything serious, but they can do simple blood work to check your liver function, etc. NEVER be afraid to ask the doc...they work for you!!! Good luck!

I also was diagnosed with hemangiomas on my liver after complaining of stomach pain. The dr. put me on Prilosec and then Prevacid which seemed to help my stomach. My dr. said the hemangiomas aren't dangerous as long as they don't increase in size. That was a year ago-now I'm experiencing the same kind of pain again in my upper right side. When I feel the pain, I have to lay down-I feel drained of energy. I feel stupid going to my dr. because my son is seeing him for multiple conditions right now (thyroid problems and reflux, excessive sweating) I feel like the dr. will think I'm crazy, but I know I should make an appt. I've taken Pepcid AC for about 3 days and that seems to make me feel better.
Thankyou to you both for your comments . Fryre you wanted to know more all I can say is that. What they are they are blood vessel tumors. Have you ever seen anyone with a birth mark that covers there face or arm that is red that is what we have on our livers. Don't ever let a doctor do any biopsy tho I was told we would bleed to death great huh. Its ok I don't want that done anyway. As far as the cause I have no idea. But I mostly take care of everthing naturaly I quit eating meat pretty much and only eat organic food and do only organic type meds.
Val I also thank you for your reply I am glad to know its not just me that has this hurting feeling but again as I noticed for me if I watch my diet what I eat I have alot less problems.
I'd like to know more about Hemangeonomas. If you have pain in your right side under your rib cage, is it also swollen and painful? Thanks for any info.
