Should I have my G/B Taken Out?

I have been having stomach problems for over 10 years. It was thought to be an ulcer etc., until very recently my G/B was sonogramed and found to be very enlarged, full of sludge and to have adhesions.  My doctor wants me to have it removed but I'm a little concerned about that.  Alot of what I am seeing so far is that is not always the answer.  My question is, should I have this done, what are the benefits are there other alternatives?  I want to feel better!!!  The symptoms have gotten increasingly worse.  Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Hello.  I really think you should have it removed.  I had mine removed a year ago and the only problem I have is loose bowel movements...but I don't think it's related to having my gallbladder removed.  After I had mine taken out I was finally pain free at last!  :)

Hi,
Not everyone has problems when they have their GB removed.  I believe I read once that it was only about 5%.  I am one of those people that had majot problems.  But I know of 3 other people who had theirs removed and they have had NO problems at all.  I remember my GB pains and I say that if a surgeon has looked at all the tests and concludes that this needs to come out, then do it.  Be prepared to have some pain for a few days, along with some tenderness, but after that, all should be fine with you and your body.  You may have to watch what you eat after the surgery.  I.E.  no more really high fat foods, but other than that...I bet you come through this just fine.
Hope this helps and good luck to you!  :-)
