Worried sick

My husband had esophagus cancer, had surgery a year ago in July,
On July 5th he was given a clean bill of health, which is wonderful,, :)

He became addicted to his pain meds, he was on them a year, finally he entered de-tox and is now over the worse part of that addiction.

In the last few days, he has become very, very tired, more so now then ever before, I'm really worried, he's been to see his family doctor, they did a cardiogram, which came back good, did blood work at the ER room about 2 weeks ago and it's fine. but they did more blood work yesterday at the office,

His sugar is out of wack, it goes up to and over 400 at times, and when he takes the meds for that it drops out the bottom. they've changed his meds on that, but it's continuing to do that.
he's schedule for a stress test in sept. ( which i think is to far away, considering how he's feeling right now)

He tells me, it takes all he has to talk, laugh, or walk up the steps to go to the rest room.

I'm really worried, with all the ways he's feeling it could be a number of things, I'm sure.

I don't know what to think anymore, he seems to be getting worse
I don't get any answers, and I've seen him go down hill in the last few months, I don't know what to look for or know what to do to help him. I really need some advice, I'm really scared for him.
Thanks

Have you contacted your husband's oncologist?

Yes, he's been notified, he has an appointment on the 13th of November, trying to get him in sooner. :(

November 13th. That's unacceptable. I would demand a much sooner date.

Good luck to you and your hubby,
Abbey

Nanci and Abbey are absolutely correct!!! To be told to wait until November is unacceptable. You need to be your husband's advocate (and be a strong one) under these circumstances and DEMAND an earlier doctor's appointment. Timely care is your husband's best defense in the battle with esophageal cancer.

You may also wish to join the EC-Group. It is an Internet support group with over 1100 members, comprised solely of Esophageal Cancer patients and caregivers. You will find the members there to be a great source of information and support both for you as a caregiver, and your husband as a patient. It is free, and can be found by doing a Yahoo search for "Cathy's Esophageal Cancer Cafe". On that sie you will see "Subscribe to the EC-Group". Click on it, and you are on your way. You can be a silent member, or pose questions for the Group's input, whichever you wish.

First thing's first, though, and raise the roof to get an earlier doctor's appointment!

I absolutely agree - he has an existing situation which demands
his oncologist's attention.  Call the nurse, leave voice mails for the doctors,  tell the answering sevice it's an emergency.
Do it every day until you get attention.  If that doesn't work, call the hospital's administrator.  Your husband has one life and you need to be his voice.  I did when I was dealing with my husband's cancer and trust me, when you deal with the Mass General Hospital and the chief oncologist's office, it's not a walk in the park.  When they told me two months, I made enough noise that he was seen in days.  I never accepted "no".

Thanks to all of you,I really do appreciate the time you took to answer me,
I will in fact join the EC group asap. I really do need support on this, my family, his family, has no idea what my son and I go through. It's hard, very hard, especially in the situation that I am in.

And when you worry yourself sick about someone who plays mind games, it's not much fun. in fact, it's very sad.

Thanks to all :)
