Have you ever heard of Chrons disease? You should look into it my husband has had it for 13 years and these are some of the symptoms.
Be careful about taking tylenol until you know if you have liver problems because it can cause damage to your liver if you also drink alcohol.
I know for me when I had a hysterectomy my surgeon told me I had a lot of scar tissue and she would be glad to talk to my GI - as I had been having constipation problems - citrucel, colace, nothing helped - but I know I did not drink enough water - and one severe night of constipation and straining has permanently affected my "guts" -Triphala, one of the oldest Indian fruit combos. helped me - I did a lot of study on it before hand - and fortunately our computer guru was from India - it is used when there is also a scar tissue problem - I almost dislike eating anymore - - I hadmy kidney and gall bladder removed in 1990 -(not cancerous) I think they could have done a better GI job with centering everything - I wonder if there are folks out there that some times have a problem swallowing - -sometimes when I am in a hurry I just seem to gobble and swallow - I have to purposely take the time to swallow each bite - and I am sure this does not help my guts

Thank you for your suggestions. One thing I am guilty of is not drinking enough liquid. I have been trying... The fiber is actually helpful to me so I will keep it up for now. I'm beginning to notice a pattern.. My back pain has been most significant the last few days and general upper abdominal discomfort. I've described it as feeling as if I am in a vice grip to my MD. I'm not sure what is triggering it specifically. Pizza maybe but most of the weekend I ate well. I will go to my GP at the end of the month as I am not happy with results with GI ( 1st priority ) I need a referral to get a second opinion. I am reading the boards and will go in a little more prepared perhaps. Thanks again as well as any further comments appreciated. CD
Very frustrating going through all the tests and many Dr visits and still not getting a diagnosis, isn't it? Part of your problem may be due to your convoluted intestines. I have a very twisted colon and have had a few blockages (constipation, colitis, pain, vomiting). Make sure you drink plenty of fluids with every meal and eat smaller meals more frequently. I was told to increase my fiber intake but that made matters worse. Taking Milk of Magnesium is helpful but can have long-term consequences (lowers blood pressure). My GI DR prescribed Miralax as an alternative to surgery for my condition and it helps tremendously. Good luck!
Are blood tests normal? Do you have slightly elevated liver enzymes? Has the doctor done an ultrasound of the liver to see if there is fatty infiltration of the liver? (I have the dull pain in my right side and am senstitive to fatty foods)
I have been diagnosed with Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
You could do some research on it and see if you fit the profile.
Thanks for your responses. I have looked into IBS and the like and wondered. Also wonder why GI specialist didn't mention it over the last 6 mos of my treatment. To the best of my knowledge all my blood work is "normal". My cholesterol is 190 up from last year at 176. My weight fluctuates...150-160. I haven't looked into any liver conditions and will research. Thanks again.. any other comments welcome.CD
I have been having some of these same symptoms you describe, though not as much pain. I've been to three doctors and they all say "irritable bowel syndrome." I don't know if this is really what I have as my symtoms don't seem to follow IBS patterns. I too have reaction to malted food as well as any wheat which leads me to believe I have some sort of wheat allergy. I've read up on all these symtoms and they range from Celiac disease to IBS to Ovarian Cancer to parasites.., etc..so I have no idea what to think. I would experiement with your diet and cut out wheat products including any alcohol except wine. Soy sauce is also a culprit because it contains wheat, as well as anything malted. I notice a change in my symptoms when I cut out dairy as well.
Just some suggestions.
