I am going to add something about pernicious anemia. My father White blood cell count are panic low. For the last two years he being almost like passing out, sweat, falling asleep very easily, lose conscioness and then okay. He was getting it too often. He had done all kind of test, even bone marrow exam. This summer a doctor did some tests, and then recommended him to have a shot of Vit 12 every single month for the rest of his life. He is 78 already. He is doing fine now.

Hey Nanci,
My first symptoms were being so sleepy that I could not hold my eyes open literally. I would fall asleep drving. I went to my DR and he checked my blood and I was anemic and that is how he found out that I was pernicious anemic.  He checked my folic acid and B-12. So, I guess that I was just lucky. I know that it can cause you to be anemic.
Hope that helps.

I have had pernicious anemia for about 7 years now.  I have to regularly take B-12 shots .  Although, my Dr. has never actually done the Schilling test, I think that I will ask him to. I hate having it, because, I am always tired and worn out all the time.
Good luck.
