Hi I suspect that I have gastritis and get some chest tightness, I avoid spicy food to be on the safe side. You have to bear in mind the stomach is just below the diaphram so its bound to be affected when taking breath's.
Everytime a person has a stomach-ache the doctors say "avoid spicy foods". That is such a broad general statement. What does it really mean? I think it means to avoid what ever upsets your stomach. Everyone is different. I love onions and eat them everyday. But if my sister eats them she is miserable. So it is your body and your stomach. You have to figure out what you can handle and what you can't handle.
If you have gastritis the last thing you want to be eating is something spicy or fried! You have an inflammation of the stomch linning. Eating something like say pizza, tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc, etc, is like putting baby oil on a sunburn and than going back out in the sun. You wouldn't do it. The same goes for the stomah. It's raw. Pamper it for a few months until the inflammation subsides. It's totally the WORST :( I feel for you. I'm going through the same thing.

Thanks lots of good advice.

Just wish I could get back to normal breathing, the belching I can deal with.
Well enough of my self pity for now...thanks

How did your chest xray go? I just wanted to let you know that you have my sympathies. I have gotten chest tightness too, but this didn't affect my breathing. (I did have pneumonia though before that so I know how horrible and scary it is to have trouble breathing.)
I was thinking though, that I have had trouble breathing sometimes after eating a big meal- I think that when my stomach gets full it can press on the lungs so they have less room to expand. Maybe your stomach inflammation, or your shest tightness (constriction of muscles) is causing a similar thing. This sort of breathing problem felt different to the problems I had with pneumonia. For example, with my stomach causing the problems, it just made my breaths shorter and it was more like gasping for breath after exercise. However, with the pneumonia, I could feel there was something more wrong with my lung than just not having enough room to expand. It felt like someone had folded my lung in half and air couldn't get to 1/2 of it, or that someone filled 1/2 of it with water- to the same effect.
Did your x-ray show anything? Does either of my descriptions of my symptoms sound familiar with your breathing problems? Maybe these things are a couple of things to consider. All the best, Reb
Thanks for the concern...got my results back, my chest xray came back normal...woo hoo!
So i guess ill just le my tummy heal..thats all to it.
