Help Please answer - Diagnosis from CT Scan

I had a ct scan with contrast last month as part of an ibs workup.  They found a "single small 8mm low density lesion" that was thought to be a cyst or hemaninoma, (although there is no peripheral enhancement??)  Since a cyst could not be confirmed it was recommended that an ultrasound be performed to confirm.  However, since an ultrasound had been performed the prior month and didn't show anything the doctor wants to wait a 4-6 months and repeat it.  In the meantime, I'm scared this may be something more serious.  Can you give me any reassurances?

Hello Heather,

The doctors are waiting to see if the lesion has changed in size...that is why the wait. You may have a simple "birthmark" on your liver...these are common. If it is a tumor..they want to see if it is growing.
Don't panic just yet!! I'm curious as to why they gave you the ultra sound is the first place...?? Were you having pain in the Upper right Quadrant? Or did a blood test checking the liver set them off?
I have 12 tumors in my liver...if you scroll down to Focal Nodular Hyperplasia you will see my story.
So try not to panic..I know this is easier said than done..but I have been there..I have had at least 10 Ct scans and 12 ultrasounds to date..plus one MRI and a number of other tests..
all the best to you.

The reason that I had the scan & ultrasound was due to pain from ibs.
