8 weeks pregnant shih tzu vomiting

hi there, my name is juels and my 3.5 yr old shih tzu/pekingese dog (betty) is almost exactly 8 weeks preggers. due 2/14. she has always been very healthy and happy, we live on a farm where she's very active and always with me. we live on kaua'i, so are very careful to keep her up to date on her vaccs, heartworm pills, etc. the daddy is a silky terrier, he's a good 3-4# smaller than her. i've got an amazing vet that lives close by and we did an xray showing at least 3 pups. sorry to go on & on, just to give you the history. the reason i'm worried is that betty has been vomiting in the early afternoon both yesterday and today. she's always been a finicky eater, it's been a challenge to try to make sure she's actually eating enough. the vet said she's a healthy weight for where she's at when i brought her in to him last night. he had me give her a pill for parasites he thought may be causing the vomiting. when i got home she actually ate a nice bit of food, but then this morning she was acting unhappy and threw up a few hrs later. i made her a stir-fry of chicken livers and eggs and she ate it. it's too early for her to have the pups, and i'm worried about her. any ideas?
thanks so much!
aloha, juels

Make sure the chicken is boiled, plain with no seasoning, and the rice is also boiled plain (sounds boring, but often works to settle tummies!)

OK well I don't know for certain what this could be, there may be another cause. But my dog also had a bout of vomiting after I gave her an over the counter wormer (she had had this before and been OK with it, but suddenly started reacting badly to it. This happened twice so it was no coincidence.
I got her another, different wormer (from the vet) and with this there was no vomiting.
So it IS possible your little dog's vomiting is a reaction to the parasite meds she was given...
What I'm saying is, if a dog has a sensitive digestive system, certain meds like wormers can make them throw up. One wormer might make them sick, yet another one might suit them.

However, it COULD be another cause of course. I would get the vet to run blood tests on her to make sure there aren't any blood imbalances going on.

It might be best to feed her a bland diet like chicken and rice for a couple of days, making sure she gets plenty of water, and see if there is any improvement. She will need extra nutrition at this stage of her pregnancy, so the vomiting should be stopped if possible, and better if you can to do it naturally rather that giving her anti-emetics.
