It is very possible in a small dog that her blood sugar drops unexpectedly. Give her a half teaspoon of dark Karo syrup when this happens and see if she pops right out of it.
Small dogs do this a lot even when not pregnant. If syrup works go get a tube of Nutrical.
Hey my 8 year-old male chihuahua does the same thing - I was just searching for possible reasons and came across your post - have you learned anything else about it? He will even wake up in the night and seem disoriented and dizzy and he is unable to walk straight - it seems to scare him as well as he gets really close to me and wants me to hold him - it is so weird. It happens periodically and then won't for awhile - it seems to last about 10 minutes - it is so weird...

Thank you so much for responding...I really have no clue whats wrong with her but its really starting to worry me...hopefully I can get some help at the ask a vet board:)
Thanks again for your help!!!
I think it's time for a second opinion. Obviously some of the circuits in your dog's brain aren't working correctly, which means you might need a neurologist to examine her. I'm not familiar enough with problem dog pregnancies, but I wonder if she's got pre-eclampsia? Please hop over to the Ask a Vet board here at med help and post your question. I'm sure one of the vets there will give you a better idea where to turn now. Best of luck to you both, and let us know how everything works out. :-)
