Concerning my 9 month old puppy

I have a 9 month old 1/2 maltese 1/2 yorkie puppy.  She is very lively.  Yesterday she started to where she does not want to play with anyone or anything.  All she wants to do is lay there.  She only wants to drink water and not eat.  I can't afford to bring her to a vet.  Can you please help me?

Karla has given you some excellent advice.  It might not all be what you wanted to hear, but it was honest and what needs to be done.

At nine months of age it could be something as simple as her not feeling like herself because she is beginning her first heat cycle.  Oftentimes when females go through their first or second heat cycle they act like they don't feel well.  They don't do what they normally do, they don't eat, they generally act like they are sick.  The problem with this is that these same symptoms can also signal the beginning of a life threatening illness, like parvo.  So you really cannot afford to take the chance and adopt a "just wait and see" attitude because if you do that, and she IS really sick, it might be too late to do anything about it by the time you find that out.  Please let us know how things go.

Hello & welcome....Sorry to hear about your situation....
You need to find a way to get her to a Vet...Part of Pet ownership/responsibility is to be able to provide medical care when needed.....It would be impossible for us to diagnose her over the internet....There could be numerous things wrong and we have no way of telling what it is.....She needs to be evaluated by a Vet.

Puppies seem to go downhill quickly with illness..........Has she had her vaccines? As long as she's drinking, that will help....Dehydration results in serious illness and sometimes fatal...

Do you have anyone you could borrow money from?
Do you have anything (Like your computer) you could Pawn for some cash to get her treatment?
Call around and ask Vet Clinics if they take a payment plan...Some do.
Call your Local Humane Society and ask if they offer a low cost Vet Clinic or if they know of anywhere that does....

If you cannot provide medical care for her, another option would be to turn her over to a Humane Society (NOT a shelter). They will provide the care she needs and also be able to find her a home that can afford her needs.... Although shelters, Rescues, Humane Societies are full to the max because of the economy, I feel she would have a chance to be adopted because of her breed & age...

I hope you can have her checked out....Let us know what happens, Karla

You have to take that dog to a Vet or call your local Animal Shelter for help and advice, because they usually have a Vet on call. Do not let the dog suffer. I know times are tough, but you will be amazed of the help that is out there with just a phone call. Please don't wait.
