My 2 1/2 yr old labrador has an allergy (to what? unknown at moment). I refuse to put my dog under anesthesia, so they can flush his ear out. It's like a very dark brown waxy buildup and his ear is very irritated. He shakes his head all the time because his ear itches. I have a solution to put in his ears to help flush it out, but the buildup is deeper.
The specialist wanted to put him under, because he says he cannot see fully into the ear because of the waxy buildup. It could be an ear infection, but without a flush...we won't know. The odor is very strong too....
Anyone have any thoughts on what else I could do or what may be the problem here?
