My dog won't drink again! Anyone understand this?

I posted a while back about my dog who had a weird thing about drinking water or even going near her water bowl.  She stopped it, and started drinking for a while. Now she's back to the same old thing again! Otherwise she is super fit and well! I do understand her in so many ways, and got a big understanding of dogs generally, but this just about stumps me! What can be wrong? Does anyone have any good hints and tips on what to do? (I'm preventing her getting dehydrated by spoon-feeding her water.) She'll just about drink 7 or 8 dessertspoonfuls at a time this way. I don't like giving her milk because I know it's not so good for dogs, but she would happily drink it! I don't want to get her in the habit of having a water/milk mix all the time. This is really weird. She's been drinking water all her life!

Maybe your Water Treatment Facility changes periodically!   More or different chemicals being used. (That she can smell or detect, but you can't). Give her bottled water & see if it makes a difference.....It must say PURIFIED.....Some bottled water is not....Maybe this will help.....Karla

She pees just fine, her water bowl is very very clean, she's got no other symptoms. I'll take that on board, about the anti-diuretic hormone, and stuff. I'll ask the vet about this. But because she's so well otherwise, it makes me wonder what this is! I even thought she's just kind of 'playing' me a bit, you know, liking the idea of drinking teaspoonfuls at a time off my hand......the extra attention, and all that stuff... I've had to do it, to make sure she gets her water, but am aware it's building a bad habit!  And when the milk comes out -(even though she only gets a little of it mixed with a lot of water)- she doesn't seem to have lost her thirst!!
Anyway, that's good advice, and I'll mention it to the vet.

Is her water dish clean?   We had a dog that did not like slobber in his water.   He would drink from it once and not again until the dish was rinsed out and he was given fresh water.

How old is your dog? Has she had any changes in her need to urinate?  Thirst and urination are controlled by vassopressin, or Anti-Diuretic Hormone, released from the pituitary gland. Hopefully, your doggie is not having any pituitary or kidney troubles, but this is something you could ask your vet about, if she starts having more serious problems.  Just a thought.

No she's not getting water anywhere else. Sometimes we go near a stream on our walk, but right now, when she's in this mood, she treats this the same way she treats her water bowl! Like she's scared of it, and wants to get away from it! (Then at other times, she's been ok, and has drunk from it)
She's never been dehydrated because I get water down her one way or another, or the milk/water mix, which she doesn't refuse.
She's generally fit & well. She has some history because she was kind of 'rescued'. But I don't think, from what I found out, that anyone hurt her or teased her badly. So she's well-balanced generally & happy.
She gets these anti-water moods now and again. Most times she breaks it herself, forgets about it, and starts drinking just fine again for ages. But I have to work hard to stop her getting dehydrated when she's like this.
I can't say I understand what's going on with her.

Is it possible she's getting water from another source like a swimming pool or the toilets?  I've noticed my dogs like water in metal bowls but not plastic containers.  Weird huh?  They LOVE sticking their heads into the toilets - doesn't help that Hubby refuses to put the freakin' lid down.  :-\

Has your dog ever actually gotten dehydrated or ill in any way from refusing water?  Any other symptoms of ill health or odd behavior?
