More of a warning about wounds...

Im going to post info regarding my Service Dog, Blue. Im not sure Why-but if I get the nagging feeling I just Do.

Yesterday my dog was playing and ran out the back door and in Literally the time it takes to turn ones head he was back in the house Screaming like I've never heard a dog do, and peeing him self. I thought at first he must have met with the neighbors electric fence, but then I noticed the wound. My neighbor has Dairy Goats, and after x-mass they get all the trees left over from the lots and feed them to the goats.

My yards not fenced and they leave the eaten bare of bark and all, trees in my back yard.

I own a dog who could trip while standing still, hes so clumsy! Im guessing he ran as fast as he could playing and slid and fell right into one of these bloody trees. After vet hrs no less.

The wound looked Bad but Not as bad as the wound Actually was.... He spent the day in surgery today and had to have stitches On the Inside as well as the Outside of the wound. And Ive got a 300$ vet bill, little ******* lol.

This is just a warning that things can be Alot worse then they look (although I was flipping out as was and devastated). Blue handled everything Far better then Me.

I took Blue in because hes not just a farm or house pet that at home doctoring for the experienced farmer is the usual norm.

As a service dog hes literally become my legs. Take him away from me and its like loosing my life. Ive loved many 'pets' through the years. But I've learned now that theres a difference between a Service Dog and the way you love your Pets. A way thats Different from even obsessed pet owners I think lol.

So to the Vets, if you ever have to treat one, take Great Care with the owner-as the bonds Far beyond what the usual worried clients is. The Animals not their Pet-its Literally their Life. The prospect of loosing their dog is like a death sentence. Not like a lost loved one/pet that you just get over and replace with a new one.

For regular pet owners, always be cautious and expect the wounds worse then it looks and take your dogs in when ever possible. Im poor like most people and contemplated treating it at home because of money issues and and inability to drive to get him help. If he was a Pet, I would have tried and may have paid for it with His life.

Im not fond of most vets because they preach to Really give a care, but only Really care about how much Money you can fork over before they'll even consider treating your animal. Just like Lawyers- 'Whats in it for Me First' people.

So Just be careful with your extra dumb clumsy dogs, and keep a strictly clean and crap free yard for them, and go to a vet if you even have a Second thought about whether or not to do so.

AngelMyne, well said.  So many times we take the wait and see attitude with our pets.  You just don't know if its something that will go away on its own or not.  We just had our dogs teeth cleaned, and by the time its all done it will cost me $510. which I think is a freakin joke. but, she had to have two teeth extracted, which must have been painful to live with, so in the long run it was worth it.  Like you said, the vets don't give you any breaks.  Hope your dog continues to improve, he is a very lucky dog to be so loved.
