Any time a dog vomits on an empty stomach and doesn't eat the rest of the day, there is reason to be concerned. It's not just an upset tummy or overindulgence at the food bowl. I would definitely take her in and at least have some basic labs run to check organ function and the like. Is she staying hydrated when these episodes happen?
Hi
Thanks for your reply. She does not seem to drink for a while after these vomitting episodes. But after she's been out and done her business, she seems OK, and eats and drinks as normal. I took her to the vet the other week because she was vomitting and couldn't seem to pass her motions. The vet anaesthetised her and cleared a blockage, and put her on IV fluids overnight. She seemed absolutely fine afterwards, there was nothing else said about the possible cause - I just thought maybe she was constipated- she does tend to chew on twigs a lot. The vet nurse just told to keep an eye on things. I don't know if any bloods were done or anything, they didn't say anything. I'm wondering if I should go to a different vet, cos this one doesn't seem to have any ideas.
What can I give my nursing dog for vomiting
