Possible Cushings

It seems we are in a vicous cycle.  My 9y/o Long Haired Chi more than likely has Cushings.  He has every sign & symptom & lab work abnormalities associated w/ Cuswe can'things.  Our delimma is, his immune system is so tanked and he's fighting infection after infecton and according to our Internal Medicine vet, she can't test as long as he has an infection, because the bacteria can give false results in specific Cushings testing.  So, in the meantime, he's not being treated, and we see him going downhill........weakness, etc.  Sooo the bottom line is we can't treat him, but he can't stay well enough to be tested.  Can anyone enlighten me??? Very scared and frustrated........but we completely trust our vet team (Primary, Internal Med & Neurologist.......he started w/ seizures back at the beginning of all this, but MRI neg, as well as Spinal Tap.

Our dog stopped wanting to eat, and before Cushings  she would eat anything, fruits, vegetables, etc.  We tried every human food and dog food, nothing interested her.  Her back legs would go out and we would have to  carry her outside.  Our vet wasn't much help, and she seemed so miserable, and finally started getting mentally confused, either from the Cushings, or the meds.  You sound like you have good medical backup for your dog, which is very important, I don't think our vet knew much about Cushings, needless to say we now travel out of town for our other pets.  Enjoy each day with your handsome little guy.

I have no answers for you, but just wanted to say he is adorable.  Our dog had Cushings, and it is a very hard disease to watch your dog go through.  I wish you luck.
