Swollen Eye

I have a 4 year old Shih Tzu that I took to the groomers today. When She called me to come pick him up she said that she thought he had cherry eye and she noticed it when My husband brought him in. He normally will have a little eye redness after being groomed but when my husband brought him him I was shocked. The whole membrane around his eye was red and swollen. I posted a picture on facwbook and I have a friend who is a groomer and use to work for a vet and said this looked like it came from being choked by the harness. It is not cherry eye since that is in the corner of the eye. Could this have come from being choked?

Can you repost a picture of the eye here?  It's impossible to tell from just a verbal explanation what is going on with it, and if this WAS from being choked on the groomers table you should know about it and act accordingly.

OH MY GOSH! How terrible for you and your little man!
I would suggest you take him into your vet tomorrow for
an evaluation and to get his eye checked and treated,it
sounds like he needs to be seen right away if for no
other reason than to be sure the eye doesn't have more
permanant or additional injury.
I can only imagine the upset you are feeling right now!
I am also sorry to say there is no way anyone here can
diagnose or even guess what caused this to his eye but
YOUR VET should be able to do an exam and possibly
say if this was from his being choked,I would hope the
vet could shed a lot of light on how this happened?
NEWS FLASH,IF in fact your little man had a "cherry
eye" she should have TOLD your husband then she
needed to RE-SCHEDULE the appointment so this could
have been treated at your vet clinic.( and she KNEW in
fact it was a cherry eye because she is a veterinarian??)
Sorry but this was a diagnosis for a vet and the least
that should have been done was to tell your husband so
he could determine IF your dog needed vet care right
away.
PLEASE come back and let us know how he is doing,I
hope everything turns out good for the 'lil man.
