bad breath

My 1 1/2 year old lab mix has terrible breath. It reminds me of my other dogs breath when he was a puppy and had a bacterial infection. He also does a lot of burping, any suggestions or advice?

Thank you for your time,

Petz life oral get original flavor. is great for tarter on dogs teeth.   i also use Dr. Katz bad breath rinse. (he has it for humans too. awesome product)
my cavalier king charles spainel has breath problems and has tarter he started it at a young age. it worries me because it can be linked to heart problems later in life as well as tooth loss.
hes only 2 now.  I also noticed it is diet realted too.  he also is a pukey little guy so i have to be careful of what we feed him.  I make my own dog food now. and am checking into additives for better nutrition.
i also heard that yougurt is good for the digestion some probl. can be in the stomach so yougurt and also parlsey help.
good luck

I think you're going to have to take him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have an abscessed tooth or something. That's kind of what it sounds like it might be. Animals are real good about not showing pain, either, so you may not be able to tell.

Do you ever get his teeth professionally cleaned? You may want to look in to that. Most vets recommend doing that once a year. If you have pet insurance a lot of them cover a cleaning once a year. Something to think about.
