big mole and split nail

My 10 yr. old Golden Retriever, Ginger has what looks like a big mole on her left front foot close to her toes, big enough that it pushes the hair to the sides.  It bleeds at times, not sure if she is chewing it or what.  She also fell out of our truck and split her toe nail straight down the middle and broke off, leaving the raw quick.  What can I do for her nail to help her with the pain and healing and any ideas about the mole?

Haha! Yes we do, but mine is called Misty! It's only me who's called Ginger, and I've no idea why because I'm NOT ginger....I'm a kind of blondy-brown....

I'm glad you're getting the vet to have a look at her foot. Sounds sensible. I hope all is well.

The big mole is a little bigger than a pencil eraser and is like a cluster of seeds.  Yeah, I'm going to have the vet check her out.  She is acting better with the split nail, but I want to see what the vet suggests to help with the pain and prevention of infection.  Thanks for the reply.  We Love our Gingers don't we.

I realy am not sure what this "mole" could be, it's possible it's a hematoma (a swelling filled with blood) or it could be some form of tumor. Also, with regard to her split nail, infection could get in that, so take it seriously. Dogs' feet are not the most hygienic of surfaces, they have to walk where it's not too clean most of the time, so it is very possible infection could set in there.
It may heal just fine on its own, but if it doesn't appear to be getting better in a couple of days, it would be wise to take her to the vet to get it looked at.
I think, also, it would be wise to get the growth on her foot looked at too.

You can bathe the foot with slightly warm salt water. It will help the sore nail-bed. However, keep a close eye on it.
But I think a vet needs to look at that swelling.
