can anyone help

Hello,

I have 3 dogs, in March of 2013 one of my dogs who is a rescue and was found on the streets about 4 years ago, started to loose weight.  This coincided with the passing of his animal companion and a surgery to remove skin growths on his body , a total of 12.  I noticed a few days after our other dog passed that Bradly defecated in his bed, that had never happened before and it did not happen again. I started taking him to the vet when I noticed gradual weight loss. All of his blood work, x rays , heart, came back normal.  This was in march, 2013, I took him back in may, June, august, September October.  At this time his blood work, heart, chest x rays and ultrasound are all normal.  He had a specific test that was sent out and it showed an imbalance of bacteria in his intestines. In November his stool tested positive giardia.  He was treated , In Jan I took him to a specialist for internal medicine, she repeated all of the above test and found nothing.   At this point he is till losing weight and his back legs are becoming weak.  All though she found nothing with the diagnostics she ran, she noticed an arithymia. he was admitted to the hospital for a week for observation and treated with medications.  we where able to get his heart under control, I have seen a nutritionist t, he is receiving acupuncture weekly, he is done to 18 pounds from 28.  He is a male neutered cocker spaniel, his age is 11.  He is eating and drinking, he is not able to walk on his own , but is doing physical therapy to strengthen his legs and muscles. last week he started barking at night and would not stop, thy put him on valium, melatonin.  I took him t see a neurologist and he had no answers either , he gave me steroids.  He started the steroids Wednesday June 12th, over the last few days, after feeding him, he burps and then vomits about 5 minutes after eating.  The skin growths I mentioned earlier started to grow back 3 months after being removed, one has grown the size of an apricot.  .  Friday he had his blood tested again, I am waiting for results.  I know this is a lot of information, but if anyone has any suggestions or experience with any thing like this I would so appreciate it

Hi ,

Thank you so much!  That does sound similar, he is currently on 3 heart meds, digxion  ,dilaztan and a pill to strengthen the muscle.  I am sure I spelled the names wrong.  He did have an echo gram.  What type of heart issue did your dog have?  he did have an echo 2 months ago.  Thank you so much for responding I really appreciate it.

I will get the probiotics tomorrow

I think there maybe something wrong with his heart that they have not diagnosed properly. My Dobermann had a similar problem and they had said his heart was ok but it wasn't. My dogs back legs were weak and he would collapse now and again, it was as if he didn't have the strength to hold his body up. He also lost weight and was vomiting at times as the heart couldn't cope with food digesting and he lost weight because the heart couldn't pump enough oxygen into the muscles. Try to give your dog pro biotics to help his stomach, you can get powdered form from the vet. Also ask for more tests on the heart as medication is quite good nowadays for heart problems in dogs. Good luck.
