Please let us know if that works. I haven't personally used one but know people who have with good results. A Vet friend of mine got one for one of her Sheltues and is pleased with the results.
As I said though, it may be some older age issues causing this.
Thank you very much for your input...no, no changes, our life is very consistant...it is my plan to get the Thunder shirt and will report if I get positive results.
P.S. I've also seen this in a dog with a abscessed tooth...So, you may want to rule out dental issues at the same time......
I agree with Margot..I've seen it too, when anal glands need to be expressed...However, I've also seen this when pain is an issue, such as Disc pain of the spine....Shaking & panting are common symptoms of pain!
In a 13 yr. old, it's possible that it's arthritis that she can't tolerate any longer......There are wonderful anti- inflammatories (From your Vet) that will make all the difference in the wold for your girl....Good luck and let us know what you find out.....Karla
Oh my, poor thing. It could be anxiety. anything change around there? Due to the age of the dog, it would be a good idea to get a thorough work up and exam at the Vet. I've seen dogs act like this just from anal glad problems.
That being said, old animals often deal with mental issues like people and it could be neurological. If so, your Vet may recommend a low dose tranquilizer.
Just off the cuff, you might try a Thunder shirt.
