safe yard treatment for fleas

I need to know what you all use to treat your yard that will not cause harm to the dogs. Also, what flea medication do you think works best, and one more question. What could make a dog ill after it gets heartworm medication?

Diatomaceous earth serve you the purpose.. It can help with the outdoor flea problem..

Thank you !! I will pass this information on. My Cuz also told me that she uses Apple Cider vinegar on her dogs as well as in their water or food. I looked on on the internet, seems many use this. I have been trying to locate information on this. Maybe I will post on the "ask the vet area".

Powdered Sulphur (From a Feed Store) will keep the pests at bay...I don't know if it kills the fleas or the smell just repels them.....It can be sprinkled with a spreader or by hand. Get an old coffee can/with lid. Poke holes in the plastic lid and use this to spread it....
I like to wet it down so that it soaks into the ground and the dogs aren't tracking it in on their feet.  :)

Fleas treatment: I like "Comfortis" best! Oral tablet...

One of my dogs gets ill for 3 days after every heartworm pill.....However, I don't know what part of it causes the reaction....Could be the beef flavoring, could be that it is a toxin or could be that a sensitive stomach can't handle the poison! I have never figured it out....Sorry!  I believe I'll ask my Holistic Vet the next time I see him.....He has an antidote for everything & could probably solve this mystery..... ;)

This was really a request from a cuz that asked me for help. Some one told her to put down laundry soap and wash it down into the dirt to keep fleas out of the yard. I never heard of that. I was just hoping that someone on here had tried some things that really worked Oh, well....
