Weight loss and excessive drinking are the two primary symptoms of many illnesses, infections and diseases, most notably diabetes. I am sure this was one of the first things the vet checked, but you can ask to be certain. Worms or other parasites are certainly the next indicator, which I assume the vet has given meds for to try and alleviate this possibility - again you should ask about this and what he has done to discount this as a likely diagnosis. When they do (of if they have already done) a full blood analysis, ask for a copy of the results and come back here to let us know what they say. Cyber hugs, Tony x
What were the few tests they did the first time?
A Complete blood panel should have been done from the beginning......Hopefully, they did it this time & will get some clues as to what is happening.....Please, let me know...I'm hoping for a good outcome for you and her....Karla
Still unknown she has stopped eating and drinking and now starting to vomit clear stuff we took her back to the vet today still unknown we agreed to let her stay overnight and run a blood test nobody has told me any news that the vet has called so my mind is in a really bad place its really not fair
I took her to the vet he told me he wasn't sure what the problem was did a few test couldn't find anything he said its possible worms that are up in the stomach and that she is bloated that could be signs to gave me medicine to give her for worming but still not sure what's wrong maybe this will help me
Hello---- Your warning signs are 1- The severe weight loss (Could be a number of things) Maybe even simple parasites that need to be treated...OTC wormers are dangerous and normally don't work well! A prescription wormer from your Vet is the best option.....Your Vet will take a fecal sample to see if worms are the cause...Also, will be able to determine which parasite to treat...
Problem 2--The excessive drinking is another warning sign---In a dog this age it could be a couple of things (Again, treatable) but only through your Vet...
I'd go ahead and make an appointment before things get worse for her....Then you will know what your dealing with and ease your mind, too! Please, let me know what you find out...It can help others reading this in the future......Good luck, Karla
P.S. I LOVE her name! "Bayda" :)
I was to the point of taking her I just figured I could help her myself I thought she had been poisoned or dehydrated but its not getting any better .. thankyou for taking time out of your day for me and helping me I really do appreciate you .. its tough to see your bestfriend go through this and knowing she's getting old it breaks my heart my wife got to see me cry for the first time ever but this dog of mine named bayda has been by my side since she was born I love her
Welcome...There are too many possibilities here.....It would be impossible for us to guess! Some can be serious and some are not.....The good news----ALL are treatable!
You definately need to make her a Vet appointment & quickly.....A few weeks is too long to wait & it sounds as if she is close to suffering....
She won't die if you get her the help she needs...Good luck & make the call, now! She's depending on YOU!!!! Let us know what you find out....Karla
