Thank you Jerry, it will be a consideration he has been our vet for twenty years and the only one in town so i honestly didn't check into it
Do you know anything bout your vet's surgical skill, results? I know when looking for a surgeon for a human member of the family we look at the doctor's surgical results, well we do for major surgery which both my wife and I have had.
I will admit when our dog needed a tooth removed we didn't look for a doggie dentist we just had "the" vet do it, in fact the "other" vet in a two vet practice did the work... but in this case all went well.
Still I think it worth thinking about the experience/results of your vet before deciding where to take him for help.
This was supposed to be a preventative surgery. The very initially called it dead space that would resolve we are three weeks post op and out is still protruding and much larger, you can feel that it is internal organ of some sort..hernia?
I have not heard of this. I had a bulldog that had a torsioned spleen that was removed and they tacked the stomach at the same time bc they said it was more likely to later torsion due to the additional space created by removing the spleen. But there was no distension or other issues. Does the vet expect it to resolve or is this something he is saying will be there forever? Is this a specialist or your regular vet?
Welcome...What does stomach tacked mean? Thanks, Karla
