9 days and not eating

Hi, I have a 12 year 10 month old female mongrel. she had all of a sudden stopped eating and its been 9 days without food. The Vet is unable to diagnose any problem, the dog has no fever though the last menstrual cycle she went thru, the bleeding was for an overly large number of days, there does seem to be a very slight growth in the Uterus but could that be preventing her from eating. She can barely even stand now. Need some assistance.

There is just no way of knowing survival odds.  In situations like this, the best we can do is trust that the vet will know when to go in - or when not to.  Dogs can surprise you though.  I wouldn't give up on her yet!  :-)

Thanks so much, yes i have shown her to a different Vet today morning, she was put on an i.v drip at a very slow rate of flow. after half an hour her resperation had increased so we had to take it off. The whole exercise will be repeated in the evening today. This new Vet said exactly what u say, the utreus has to be removed and before the surgery she needs to gain some strength and that is thru the IV drip for the next 4 days.. What percentage chance do you think she has of surviving this whole process...

I'll guess that the problem has to do with the uterus, and it needs to come out.  However, she sounds so weak now that surgery would probably kill her.  I hate to say it, but I think you should prepare yourself for the worst.  The only other thing you could do is have a different vet take a look at her.  :-(
