Worried!

Hi so this is my second pregnancy and I'm at 22weeks I hade a DS test done when I was at 19 1/2 weeks. I get a call from my doctor to come in so I go in and she tells me that the DS test came back positive for espina bifida and told me not to worry so much that in most cases the test usually come back a false positive. I had an ultrasound done at 20weeks and she told me that everything looked ok with the baby, but that she wants to send me to a Doctor who specializes in it and from there they will tell me how high of a percentage that my baby boy will have it. I'm scared for them to tell me that my son can possibly have it. What will be done if so or what at this point? I'm just worried about the whole situation I didn't have any complications with my first pregnancy so I've been really stressing lately about this. Any advice will help!

Thanks! I've been staying more calm about it lately, I spoke to my Doctor and asked when will it be that she sends me to the other Doctor and she says they usually do it around 34weeks so I still have some time till then! I just pray everynight that everything comes out good! I know babies with DS are such a wonderful gift from God I'm just scared to be dealing with it on my own as a single mother and I know I would have to teach my 3yr old son about his little brothers condition if it comes down to that I just don't want him to feel left out in any situation given I would be spending all my time on his little brother knowing it will be more work. But I will continue to stay calm for now until further information. Thanks again and God Bless you & your family!(:

my son has down syndrome. I found out from my quad screen, then ultrasound showed a bunch of soft markers including a heart defect very common with ds. I worried & stressed for 5 months. I didn't know anyone with ds before we got this diagnosis. He is the best thing. He is so loving! he's funny, super friendly, has the best smile & laugh. He had to work harder to reach the milestones that came so easy to my other son. Good luck & try to relax.
