Hello and hope you are doing well.
As you have been investigated, its unlikely to be related to cancer. It could be related to the tendons, or sometimes the vertebrae or even a cervical rib. An X ray or a CT scan may help to rule out these conditions. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Thank you for your prompt response, my doctor is confused and thinks it could be my hyoid bone rubbing on the thyroid cartilage. He is booking me with an ENT, my symptoms have improved slightly. By slightly, I mean that when I turn my head to talk the click does not exist anymore, however with ever yawn I still feel something dislodged and then I have to either swallow or move my head around to get it to click back into place. I have become quite the hypochondriac since march when I first got the pain, but the stress has been a lot less, since my research on the Internet shows that others have similar issues as myself, however with out a concrete diagnosis, it's hard to be completely stress free, and not worry about the worst. You could be right about the cervical rib, I do not feel any masses around my throat, and it could just be my luck that I have this abnormality along with the rest of the 1 percent of the population.
This just happened to me last-night in bed, I was laying on my stomach with my head turned to the left, I yawned and CLICK it felt like my throat pipe was used as a catapult, like a twang, and now I have a really bad pain running from the left of my adams apple all the way up to my left ear, the same sort of feeling when your glands are inflamed from a bad throat infection
I've no doubt it will heal on its own but its really sore and also went Googling to see if anyone else had ever experienced it and how long it took to recover
In my case though, it does not click back when I move my head so I must have pulled something
I would suggest having your thyroid checked for overactive thyroid. I had the same symptom many ago and had Graves' disease.
You need to go to a chiropracter. It sounds like your neck vertebrae is not aligned, causing the edge of the bone to catch on your esophagus. Usually this problem can be immediately fixed by literally grabbing your adams apple and pulling it to one side or the other. I have this issue. Sometimes it feels almost like im being choked from the inside. Either a physical therapist or chiropracter can fix these problems by adjusting your neck. It can be slightly painful and it doesnt always stay aligned after you have it done. Your neck muscles need a strengthening routine so the muscles can hold your vertebrae properly in place. Hope this helps.
