Dizziness and ear pain/fullness for two and a half months

Need some help here.  Over two and a half months ago I had a tetanus shot and antibiotics for a cat bite.  A week later I woke up with horrible dizziness that kept me out of work for days.  Saw the doc, ears looked fine, prescribed meclizine and and MRI.  MRI was fine, after about 3 more days, started feeling better than it came back and has not left since and this time has horrible ear pain and fullness associated with it.  I called the doc last week after trying a course of decongestants without luck and she prescribed flonase.  Still no better today, still dizzy and have opaque fluid in my ears (as can be seen by an otoscope).  I have been doing VRT for three weeks due to the dizziness, but without any results.  I would like to call my doc again, but at this point I do not even know what can be done.  I tried to get in with an ENT, but am looking at a three month wait at this point.  Any advice would be helpful.  Thanks.

Saw the primary care doc and she is sending me to the ENT (no surprise there).  First available appt is 4 AUG.  Not too happy, but at least it is better than September.

Yes, call the PCP and push to get seen earlier.

The specialist ENT's are booked until September and the local ENT is booked until November unless I can get my primary care to make them get me in sooner, going to call tomorrow as my ears are in agony today.

I would be scheduling with ENT ASAP; ideally an ENT Specialist who specializes with inner ear disorders/diseases/balance issues.  As I have found out the hard way not ALL ENT Specialists are competent in treating/caring for these issues.

A similar situation happened to me.  I took a medication last August for an infection and it did a number on my inner ear; so, I COMPLETELY understand.

Keep us posted.

Thanks.  I plan to call on Tuesday.  The nausea and near vomiting are getting so much worse as is the dizziness.  I am at my wits end with this one...

Sounds like Labyrinthitis.  Did your PCP/Family Physician culture any of this "opaque fluid" from your ear?

I would reconsult your PCP/Family Physician immediately; he/she probably should combine a prednisone with the antivert/meclizine or another medication.
