ENBREL QUESTION

I'M A MALE 59 YEARS OLD BUT WITH A VERY ACTIVE LIFE STYLE. I;VE HAD RA FOR 25 YEARS, STARTING TAKING METHOTREXATE ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO WITH PREDIZONE FROM TIME TO TIME. AROUND THREE YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING FLARE UPS AND MY DOCTOR ALSO ME ON ENBREL, WORKED VERY GOOD FOR THE RA BUT MY NOW MY THROAT IS ALWAYS SORE AND CONGESTED WITH PHELM. THIS YEAR I'VE SEEM NUMEROUS DOCTORS ENT, GENERAL ALERGIST AND EVEN HAD SINUS SURGERY FOR 30 GRAND, NOTHING FIXED THE THROAT PROBLEMS. I SEEM MY RA DOCTOR THE OTHER DAY AND ADVISED HIM I'M GOING TO GET OFF OF THE ENBREL AND SEE IF MY THROAT CONDITION IMPROVES. HE DID NOT THINK THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. ANY IDEAS FROM THE ANYONE, ANY SIMILAR SITUATIONS.
I KNOW I WILL PROBABLY HAVE FLARE UPS FROM THE RA. THANKS C.F.

Im having SAME problem. Just started Enbrel shot for my RA 3 weeks ago.
Woke up with a awful raw sore throat. I can't swallow my own spit without pissing myself. Yeah that bad!!!
Is this normal??  Does the Enbrel shot cause this for some people?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament.
The most common adverse reactions with Enbrel are infections and injection site reactions. If your symptoms of throat infections and sinusitis are evident and have worsened since starting Enbrel, then it could be related to the medication. Discuss alternative options with your doctor, before discontinuing Enbrel.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
