Ear blocked or infection?

Hi everyone,
For the last month, I have had this feeling in my right ear as if there was a bit of water inside when I tilt my head. No pain or itchiness, but a constant ringing. I noticed that when I open my mouth wide, there is a "crunching or whoosh" side in that ear. I have not had a cold or anything recently. I am currently suffereing from a continuous headache but doc says its unrelated. I had it checked at the beginning by my doctor (GP) and was told maybe some wax but no infection. I had it checked two weeks ago again and was told the same thing. Well the last week, when I sleep on my side with the right ear down, I would wake up with it blocked/plugged. The only way to unplug it a bit is to wiggle the ear around. I know its bad, but I would stick my finger in and wiggle it around a bit and it works but still have constant ringing.

So I bought some ear drops, Cerumol, to try to remove the ear wax. I put in the drops this morning for the first time, laid down with the ear up for an hour (as instrcuted by the box), and nothing has come out yet. If anything, the ear is now more blocked than before I put the drops in. I know the box says to do this 2-3 days, but I am only concerned because the ear is more blocked than before I put the drops in. Has this happened to anyone before and/or can you offer some insight?

I don't have a doctor's appointment for another 3 days.

I have never had a blocked ear due to wax before, though I am wondering could it be an infection? Am I doing more harm, if it is an infection, but putting in the ear drops to remove the wax?

Thanks in advace.

I use hydrogenperoxide full strength out of the bottle to clean my ears.  This takes no more than 10 minutes if it is going to do any good.  If you try it, don't stop because the bubbling tickles, that is doing the cleaning.  It bubbles a lot more than all specialized ear cleaners I've used.

I have a small syringe and I use it to drop a few drops of the Hy2O in my ear, fill it right up.  After about 10 minutes I dump it out and use warm water and the syringe to flush the ear out more.  Be careful not to stick the syringe into the ear channel and do not put a lot of pressure, you just need a flushing action.

I have on a couple of occasions in my gone to a doctor to have my ear flushed, they did about the same thing, used warm water, without the Hy2O and I recall at least the last time, less than a year ago the doctor (was a nurse in this case) got a large glob out of my ear that way... I could hear much better after that.

I'd not worry about damage from sticking your finger into your ear unless you have a very, very thin finger.   Some people stick bobby pins, match sticks and/or Q-tips in their ears.  This can cause damage.. that said I use Q-tip occasionally and I have never done any damage.  I can sometimes see ear wax on the Q-Tip.  Again, I am not recommending, just confessing the use of Q-Tips

Had my ears micro suctioned and now have a fungal ear infection seemingly when the ear is so clean it is a breeding ground for fungus

Ah, some progress and a possible setback.

5 hours after I had the ear syringed, I got hit with dizziness. I had to lie down, with my eyes closed and it still felt like I was moving.

Problem is I've been dealing with chronic daily headaches and a new medication that I started taking 3 weeks ago, which has dizziness as a side effect. I have no idea if its the ear (which aches a bit), the headache or the meds. Still dizzy today. I'm sure if I go to my doctor, he'll just say any of the above or anxiety. Blames everything on my anxiety. lol

I have never had any ache or itch deeper than what is easily seen, then I think only an itch.  My sketch statement demonstrates how rare it has been, I don't remember details.

We are all different, you may be allergic to something in the cleaners used, where I am not.

Give it a little time if you can stand it.

I think it would be okay to flush your internal ear passage again at home.  If I had an itch I would also use peroxide and maybe a Q-Tip to "clean and scrub/scratch) the itch.  Again, I know the standard warning is don't stick anything in your ears, but I do use Q-Tips and have never done any damage, as far as I know.

Good to read you are making progress.

Thanks Jerry_NJ for your suggestions, here's an update: So when I woke up this morning,I still couldn't hear with my right ear and started to get an earache. I didn't put any more drops in and went to a walk-in clinic. I think the drops were irritating my ears more.

This walk-in clinic has specialists in on certain days, and an ENT was in today. You just have to get a referral from the walk-in doctor first.

So I saw the ENT and had my ear syringed (with mildly cold water x_x). Luckily I did not experience any dizziness and the wax came out (I didn't get to see). I can hear again!! However, now I noticed a slight itchiness and a very mild ache. I was told no infections, so I wonder could this be left over irritation from the wax and/or the ear drops?
