Ear pain after getting water up the nose

I went swimming today and I got a bunch of water up my nose when I was trying to blow ring bubbles lol. Anyways about a half hour of that "incident" I realized I had a pain that is in both of my ear drums or behind them. The pain is very mild unless I burp then it intensifies for a quick second . So I did some research and read that eardrops would not be useful if the water is stuck behind the eardrum  so I went and bought some otc earache dissoluble tablets that you place under the tongue made for swimmer's ear, allergys, and colds. So I was just wondering could I get an ear an infection that quickly? This is the first time I swam in weeks aswell and should I seek a doctor's opinion or just gives these tablets a try?
