I have had problems off and on with bocked Eustachian tube in my left ear for many years. I have also learned to do my best to not let my sinuses stay clogged since it sets into motion a chain of events that lead to a blocked ET and pressure in my middle ear and dizziness tht has at time been debilitating (can't drive, walk etc). Recently my ear was completely blocked for a few days (people tht don't go through this don't realize what a life drain it is) and in a panic I went to the Dr. since I knew the coming chaing of events. The Dr. said they did not see an infection (yet) and just prescribed some decongestants (which is not ground breaking therapy for me). In desperation I scoured the web and ended up finding something that cleared me out (did not end up getting infection with dizziness and cleared my ear). Here are 2 links to the info that helped me. I have been doing this about once a week. Each time I do the procedure I repeat about 3 times. It takes about an hour after the procedure for me to feel the full benefits though I get relief soon after.
Things to do in preparation for the procedure:
*If you have thick mucus, take some Mucinex about an hour before the procedure.
*If you think there is a lot of swelling and you need to take an ibuprofen before treatment, it is an option (I don’t need it)
*Don't tilt your head so the fluid goes into your ET on the first rinse- first rinse- get out some of the congestion (don't want the mucus going into your ET).
*I use Afrin and homemade saline solution with tap water, but other sites highly recommend 4-way in red bottle instead of the Afrin (I may try that as well in future).
Here are some sites- good luck and hope it helps some people!

The following method may be enough to ward off blockage but for me it probably wouldn’t be enough if I was already getting blocked (if already blocked some of the saline might stay in my sinuses- the Afrin helps open things up to drain).

*** careful to just use Afrin (or other nasal spray) intermittently since can get addicted and make things worse- read about rebound effect****
This has helped me and I went off Allegra about 2 months ago. I use Flonase once a day, morning. When I do the treatment I use it after the treatment (after blow nose good and well and let things drain).
