Resistant sinus Infection with no stuffy nose

I am a 37 mother with no prior history of sinus infection. I had what I thought was an evil flu or Lyme disease--body aches with an other-worldly headache that caused pain in my jaw. No fever or stuffy nose, but mucus dripping down the back of my throat. Whenever I bent over and my head was upside down I saw stars--my first clue that I had a sinus infection of some kind. I am on round three of antibiotics (now on levaquin) and while it's holding the infection at bay it doesn't seem to be eliminating the infection, either. I obviously need to find out exactly what is causing this sinus infection. Can anyone give me tips as to what my next steps should be. I want to ask my family doctor the right questions, get referred to a specialist if necessary, etc. I have decent insurance (knock on wood!) but I don't want to waste time and money running around. We're in Chicago so many types of specialists would be available to me.

How did it all shake out?  I'm experiencing a very similar experience in 2010 and I have vertigo.  I'm 37 and everything-crazy.   I'm on my third, Levaquin, and want to know what to do next.  How did you finally conquer it?

You may possibly have a chronic sinus infection of the upper sinuses (frontal and sphenoid) which often do not respond to antibiotics because of low blood supply to the area, or it could be a stubborn virus that you got because of the unusually cool weather in Chicago this summer.  You could also possibly have an opportunistic fungal or mold infection up there, along with the bacterial infection.

Read about the cause of chronic here:

You should go to an ENT before trying a Flip-Turn Sinus Flush.

It is mildly risky, because you have to bend over to do it, preferably in a shower, but you can also do it outside on soft ground.
