Hi I'm a 32 year old female, 5'4, 144 lbs, caucasian. I'm in overall good health, but have genetic high BP, and am on Bystolic 10 mg once daily to control BP. About 3 weeks ago, I was feeling kind of achey & tired. I then woke up one morning with a severe sore throat. After 2 days of the severe sore throat, I went to my PCP. I had a low grade fever while there, & my HR was a little elevated. The nurse said it was probably due to the fever. My PCP swabbed my throat and said no strep throat. Then she swabbed my nose & said I tested positive for flu strain B she thought. She prescribed Tamiflu & said get lots of rest. I took all of my Tamiflu & rested & seemed to recover from flu. But now I still have a sore throat. The sore throat has gotten better, but is still hanging around. My throat is red in the back near my tonsils, & it looks like there is a white bump on one of them. I've tried warm salt water gargles, Motrin & rest, but still have a sore throat. Any idea what might be causing this? I have an appt. with my PCP in the morning. Thanks...
