I have had an extremely sore throat for 5 days. I went to the Dr yesterday and tested negative for mono and strep--however my monocites were elevated from my last blood test (done only 2 weeks before). My throat is red, with lines on it, and the right side seems more swollen than the left, however, over the last 24 hours it seems to have evened out, same pain on both sides, and it's excrutiating when I yawn or sneeze---I am not sneezing a lot...my nose is clear, no drainage. My dr seems to think that it's allergies. I was an allergy sufferer for a long time but had years of allergy shots and have not recently had problems with allergies. I though there might be something to the allergy theory, because I have also had 2 asthma attacks in the last week (which I haven't had in 3 years) but normally my allergies appear in the form of coughing, sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes. I have been seeing the dr for a couple months now to figure out what has been causing migraines that I've suffered from daily since the birth of my 4 month old son...however since getting the sore throat, my headaches don't seem as severe. I do have hypothyroidism as well. Do you have any insite in this matter? Is this allergies?
