I would be considering a diagnosis of inferior turbinate hypertrophy/inflammation in your case. This is a clinical diagnosis and, when medicines like the ones you mentioned (in addition to nasal steroids) fail, then surgical reduction is generally very successful. Otherwise, CT scans don't really lie.
The other day I walked into Walmart Xmas section and there was a stench
of somekind that got up my nose and so for a week now I have been suffering with
extreme sinus pain behind my eye and in the cheek area, my glands are swollen
in my throat and have sinus headaches. The reason I am writing you is because
I am in agony, doing the neti-pot every two hours and using Nasonex and
wondering how YOU got rid of the infection. I don't want to be on antibiotics
yet again. I was on this sight with the same problems last year after a bad bout
with a cold/flu and then it hit me - sinusitis! Don't stores realize that people have
allergies when they put strong smelling x-mas stuff on their shelves? Just waiting
and hoping it goes away so I can have a decent holiday. Any ideas for me as
to how I can help myself get rid of this thing, this monster that is inhabiting my face?
Hi Bella, Unfortunately I had many rounds of strong antibiotics and then IV antibiotics. As u know th CT scanis clear but my nose is not...ha ha. So as far as I know anktibiotics are the only cure along with the sinus irrigation.Good luck and hope u ar3e better for the hollicays
From what I understand there are degrees. For instance the balloon sinuplasty procedure is often recommended when all you need is for the nasal passages to be opened up a little bit more.
More invasive methods are needed if there are additional issues, etc.
Not sure if that info helps or not but thought I'd share.
Best of luck.
