white spots on tonsils - not tonsil stones

About a month ago, I woke up and my left tonsil was swollen and red and hurt a little bit when I would swallow hard, otherwise there was no pain. The next day, I noticed white stuff on a few areas of the tonsil.  Over the next couple of days it kept getting worse, and even my right tonsil was covered in the white stuff, so I went to the doctor.  She did a strep test which came back negative.  I guess she didn't know what it was and she gave me an antibiotic.  The antibiotic took care of it.

Yesterday, I noticed my left tonsil was swollen again and now the white spots are reforming.  Once again, there is no pain.  I have a history of tonsil stones so I know that this is something different.

I am going back to the doctor in 6 days, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows what could be going on.

Use a Water Pik to clean your tonsils. I had chronic tonsillitis until I graduated from college. Tired of the tonsillitis I went to an ENT specialist. He looked at my tonsils and told be to invest in a Water Pik and clean your tonsils daily. That was 35 years ago - now I only clean my tonsils if white spots or stones return
