Binge Eating major problem

I have been binge eating for the past several months.  It is getting out of hand, I am embarassed to talk to my doctor about it or anyone else for that matter.  What is causing this disorder, I am not sure of.  It could be a number of things, so to pinpoint the core would be very hard.  When no one is around, I overeat. Whether it be chips, pretzels, popcorn, or chocolate. I will eat it.  There are weeks where I will be craving a particular food and I will go out and buy it everyday. I will eat the entire bag in one day and still be hungry.  I can't take it.  I feel fat and ugly and do not know what to do about it.  I have tried many diet pills to curve my eating habits but unsuccessful at that.   Is there anything I can do to fix this problem.  It is making me more depressed when I see the weight I have put on. yet I have no desire to do anything to take it off.

Yes I agree with what Abby has said as well. The journal is a really good suggestion. I've done that before and it really helps.

Do let us know how you are doing!

Ashley is right, but also depression and fitting in can cause binging. You will need to write a journel of your feelings when you want these items and why. i would also get some counseling because you are very young and this can be very dangerous. One thing that can really help you is exercise. Exercise puts off hormones to make you feel happy + once you really start and make it a habit you will find yourself more addicted to it than food because you feel better, people will tell you, you look better, and then you get self-confidence.

There's a reason this is happening. There is something going on in your life, something missing, that you are filling by using food. You don't have to answer this to me, though you are welcome to, but what's going on? How's your family? How's your job? What are your stressors? Has anything changed in your life recently? Is anything different at all, no matter what it may be?

Another possibility if it's medical as opposed to psychological is that it could be like a thyroid problem or something like that. I'm no doctor. I'm much better with psychology, but there's always a chance there's something medical going on so you might want to have everything checked? You would need to be honest with your doctor and tell him/her what's going on so she/he knows what to test for. I know you say you don't want to talk to a doctor though. I guess if you choose to first see if there's something else going on, that's your choice. What do you think about the first questions I asked? Anything related to any of those going on? I hope you're doing okay.
