Just waiting for the med's to kick in is exactly the wrong thing to do...med's will not stop the emotional stress eating you describe, and the vicious cycle that follows....you can learn to deal with and cope with life without using food to shut off your feelings, and shut down your mind....I have a book on the subject and website to help you start working on learning a new way..its a 12 week program....at www. shrinkyourself.com...and it works...read the comments of members..
The emotional affects of weight gain can be debilitating.
Are you able to identify what triggered the weight gain in the first place? Sometimes identify the source will allow us to intervene (work on the trigger, etc).
A lot of people don't understand mental illness and therefore are unable, or unwilling, to offer support.
Do don't have to leave the house to exercise. You could try exercises such as walking on the spot, lunges, sit-ups, etc. You could grab some cans and try any number of other exercises -watch technique though. Maybe you could have a friend or family member buy an aerobics tape?? Even just some gentle stretching exercises.
This isn't the solution but it could help in the interim.
