anorexia but no help

Im worried about my 20 year old daughter.
She was ill in march and was hospitalised for 2 months with a rare liver disease. but after having a sickness bug she was too scared to eat. She has since gone from 10stone to 7st 11. Shes 5ft 3.
She is hardly eating - only eats lettuce and cucumber and vegetables.
I have caught her making herself sick around 6times a week. She has eaten bread and crisps etc and then ran and made herself sick, then only eats lettuce for weeks after.
She was discharged seeing a psychologist who has told her she isnt underweight yet so isnt too worried.
Im terrified for her health.
She is passing out, getting dizzy taking packets of 24 laxatives a day, complaining of stomach cramps, sleeping all day, then up at night, her hair is falling out,her skin is dry,she has terrible mood swings and im sure is depressed. But no one is helping me- not even her GP.
Please help me. What can I do?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
You must insist that your daughter gets treatment in a eating disorder specialty clinic...she needs immediate and serious help or her health is in great danger.

I'm sorry both you are your daughter are in this situation.  I understand the frustration at not being able to access support (especially when you have major concerns and feel they aren't being addressed).

I think based on a bmi your daughter would be considered underweight.  (Or at least close to it if my conversions aren't quite right).  BMI = weight (kg) / height (cm) 2.

Would her GP be receptive if she were to visit them again?  Maybe with you or with you discussing your concerns prior to the visit?
Have you tried talking to the psychologist again?  I think that's a dangerous position to be taking.  Also because someone is or isn't a particular weight doesn't mean they don't have issues that need addressing.

You could try for a second opinion.  Or just take her to the hospital.

I would probably suggest trying the hospital first.  Your daughter should probably have both a medical and psych consult.

Does your daughter acknowledge she has a problem?  If she doesn't and won't seek treatment and you are really concerned then you could start procedures to have her sectioned.

It's better to intervene early before she loses more weight and develops significant physical and emotional side-effects.

Good luck
